The fragrance lab at George Foster’s new lifestyle market is a sensory experience where customers create their own signature scent under the guidance of the award-winning interior designer. At the end of the blending session, guests take home a personalized spa body mist with hand-selected scents. The scents and perfume base are made from all-natural products, and are gentle on your skin.
Mr. Foster studied scent design in Brazil and has worked as an interior design lead for Ethan Allen and for private clients California and the UAE.
The experience takes place at George Foster’s meticulously styled atelier. It’s a small, dark, and sexy space brimming with a curated selection of beautiful home decor items, barware, and his own line of home spa essentials. The fragrance lab is located at the back third of the shop, where a dedicated table is set up for the experience.
Fragrance lab guests are treated to a complimentary glass of wine or coffee to enjoy as they browse the extensive list of scents, which range from floral to citrusy to earthy. Once you have selected a few favorites, it’s your choice whether you want to stick with a single note or blend a few together to create something unique to you. During my session, Mr. Foster helped me come up with several ideas for scent pairings based on my preferred scents.
Once you’ve settled on your perfect blend, you’ll use a precision scale to measure precise amounts of both scent and base to create your spray. Blend complete, Mr. Foster customizes your bottle with your initials or the initials of your choosing. Your formula is recorded and kept on file, so it’s always available when refills are needed.
Guests can take part in the lab as a walk-in during regular business hours, book a private event with an on-site barista and charcuterie, or join one of his public events.
Mr. Foster also offers a social club which includes unlimited drinks, discounts on purchases, invitations to member-only events, and first access to products and workshops.
